Resources & Learning

We are able to assist churches wishing to plant Choir Church with resources around all aspects of this ministry.

  1. Establishing a choral culture in your school

  2. Designing services using excellent music, liturgy and teaching to speak particularly to children and families

  3. Community Organising and its mission, both to grow disciples and to work for justice with those of all faiths and none.

We have a resource pack for churches wishing to establish Choir Church. Please write to us to request this. We can also meet with you via zoom or in person to discuss the next steps.

Singing Assemblies

Learn some great hymns which teach the Gospel, how to sing and read music, and hear from a different school each week, exploring the Church of England’s Faith at Home themes - from courage to compassion.

Our assemblies can equally be used in the classroom or home. We think children should sing beautiful sacred poetry set to great music that is singable. We hope you enjoy singing along!

Flourishing
God calls us to be the people he intends us to be - flourishing. As we step into the new school year, and into new schools, we think about stepping out into the world as we grow. We also learn about lockdown tomato plants, and the ingredients required to allow us all to flourish.

Hymns: Through all the changing scenes of life (Wiltshire) & Immortal, invisible, God only wise (St Denio)
School: St Paul’s CE Primary School, Whitechapel

Compassion
The world that God created is beautiful, and is a gift, and yet we need to do much more to protect it - to care for our world with compassion. We hear from pupils who lead prayers for a more compassionate world, as well as learning some English favourites.

Hymns: All things bright and beautiful (Royal Oak) & For the beauty of the earth (England’s Lane)
School: Wren Academy

Vulnerability
We all feel frightened or scared sometimes - and when we feel weak, it’s important to be honest with those who love and care for us - including our friends and teachers. But we can also be there to help others when they need it. Jesus teaches us to have faith at hard times - we are assured of God’s love and care no matter what.

Hymns: Lord of our life, and God of our Salvation (Iste Confessor) & Lord of all hopefulness (Slane)
School: St Matthew’s CE Primary School, Enfield

Generosity
We have a generous God who gave his Son to die for our sins. Around us, the world is full of gifts that we can give to others, following Jesus’s example. Learn two great hymns, and about Rebekah, Jacob & Martin Luther King.

Hymns: There is a green hill (Horsley) & Son of God, Eternal Saviour (Everton)
School: St Saviour’s Primary School, Poplar

Kindness
Simple acts of kindness can change the world. Jesus taught us to ‘love one another’ - how can we do this in simple ways?

Hymns: New every morning is the love (Melcombe) & Help us to help each other, Lord (Dunfermline)
School: Chelsea Academy

Resilience
We need resilience more than ever at the moment. This means the ability to adapt to change, and to keep going when things get tough. Watch a Headteacher try to play our first hymn on the recorder. She is pretty resilient, and gives us hope to keep going!

Hymns: Father, hear the prayer we offer (Sussex) & O Jesus, I have promised (Wolvercote)
School: Clerkenwell Parochial Primary School

Patience
Have you ever waited for something impatiently? Perhaps getting angry or annoyed when it takes longer than expected? Learn about patience by thinking about the plants that grow, and hear members of the Hackney Children’s Choir sharing what they understand by patience. If we trust God, he will steer us through our lives - even when we’re feeling impatient.

Hymns: Be still, my soul (Finlandia) & I heard the voice of Jesus say (Kingsfold)
School: St Matthew’s Primary School, Westminster

Humility
It is difficult to say sorry sometimes, and to put others before ourselves. Having humility is about not taking ourselves too seriously, and putting others first. Jesus was a humble child, then teacher. Learn how to be humble, and hear the message of You are Special, by Max Lucado. Our hymns include a 14th century tune called ‘Quem Pastores’ which is about the humble shepherds who visited Jesus.

Hymns: Jesus, good above all other (Quem Pastores) & Just as I am (Saffron Walden)
School: St Mary’s CE Primary School, Islington

Love
Jesus taught us how to love one another, with a pure heart. He healed the sick, taught us, and fed the hungry - all because he loved those he came to save. Today’s assembly explores the commandment to ‘love one another, as I have loved you’.

Hymns: The King of Love My Shepherd Is (St Columba) & ‘Love one another’ from S.S. Wesley, Blessed be the God and Father
School: St Andrew’s (Barnsbury) Primary School

Courage
We can all name our favourite superhero - they are courageous people who often fight to protect others! The Bible is full of courageous people, too. Learn about Daniel in the Lion’s Den.

Hymns: Will your anchor hold in the storms of life? & Onward, Christian Soldiers
Schools: Holy Trinity, Tottenham, St Michael’s Wood Green, St Ann’s, South Tottenham

Hope
We need to put our trust in God. He cares for us, and as Psalm 46 reminds us, ‘God is our hope and strength’. Today’s hymns remind us that we have hope in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

Hymns: Lord of all hopefulness (Slane) & He’s got the whole world in his hands
Schools: St John’s, Bethnal Green & St Paul’s Whitechapel

School worship

When we sing together in school, we often come together to worship God. This assembly introduces two of the best-loved school worship songs.
